Data can be lost in major data loss conditions
A very common reason of losing files on Windows XP (and for any other type of operating system in general) is accidental deletion of a file. People at times accidentally click Delete; this is more of a mistake due to working fast or carelessness.Sudden electricity fluctuations and power failures in general may result to a number of files being deleted or damaged in a computer’s hard disk. With power outages being mostly unpredictable, this is one of the main causes of file loss.
It has also been observed that files on occasions get deleted after emptying the recycle bin. This is a rather uncommon glitch and most operating systems such as Windows XP, rarely encounter such errors.
